Future Professional Development

The Edmonton Public Teachers Local 37 Substitute Teachers' Committee is looking for feedback on what kind of Professional Development substitute teachers would like.

Your responses will be kept anonymous and confidential. Results will not be shared outside of Edmonton Public Teachers Local 37 ("The Local"). Participation is, of course, voluntary, but we appreciate your time and input.

The survey is intended for any and all people working as substitute teachers with Edmonton Public Schools. This includes those on part-time or temporary contracts.

* 4. The provincial Alberta Teachers' Association (ATA) organizes a Substitute Teachers' Conference every October. Do you or have you ever attended?

* 5. The Provincial ATA Substitute Teachers' Conference alternates between Calgary and Edmonton every year. The Local will reimburse attendees for registration costs. Would you be more likely to go to the Edmonton or Calgary conference?

* 6. Last year the provincial ATA subsidized the first 150 registrants at $.53/km for mileage and $110 for hotel when the conference was held in Calgary. Would you be more likely to go to the Calgary conference if you received the provincial ATA subsidy?

* 10. Edmonton Public Schools provides up to $150 a year to each substitute teacher towards self-directed Professional Development. Do you make use of these funds?

* 11. Edmonton Public Teachers Local and Edmonton Public Schools offer Professional Development funding through the Joint Staff Development Fund. Teachers, including substitute teachers, may access up to $1,800 in funding every two years (plus more available for groups) to use towards Professional Development. Have you applied to make use of this Fund?
