The objectives for this session were:
1. Compare and Contrast presentation of psychotic and mood disorders versus substance induced psychotic and mood episodes. 2. Identify the most likely substances to induce psychosis.
3. Discuss appropriate treatment for severe substance induced psychosis.
4. Identify other substances that can cause symptoms similar to MDD, Bipolar, and other Mood disorders.
5. Implement rules for obtaining a most appropriate diagnosis for patients with primary substance use problems and when to include a psychiatric diagnosis.
6. Identify substances and how they cause symptoms similar to Anxiety Disorders and panic symptoms.
7. Recognize health and ethical implications for misdiagnosis.
8. Implement appropriate interventions for primary substance use patients with substance induced mood/anxiety disorder.
