1. Purpose

The Otipemisiwak Métis Government of the Métis Nation within Alberta (MNA) established our first Métis-led Indigenous Protected and Conserved Area (IPCA)!

In May 2023, the MNA secured 158 acres in Lamont County, AB to establish a pilot IPCA. The MNA’s Environment and Climate Change (ECC) Department is asking Citizens to learn about the site and then participate in an online survey. We are looking for suggestions for the IPCA’s name and we want to know what on-site IPCA programs, events, and activities you may be interested in.

In this survey, you'll be asked to:
  • Provide some personal information for the purpose of verifying MNA Citizenship and sending prizes to those survey participants whose names are selected from a randomized draw.
  • Provide some demographic information which will be used to evaluate the effectiveness of the survey at reaching and including Citizens belonging to all demographics.
  • Provide up to 2 name suggestions for the pilot IPCA.
  • Answer questions about your interest in visiting our pilot IPCA.
  • Provide feedback on potential programming/activities to be offered on the pilot IPCA.
The survey results will be used to identify potential names for the IPCA and inform on-site programming, activities, and events.

MNA Citizens aged 18 or older can participate in this survey from April 11, 2024 to midnight MST May 21, 2024. This survey should take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Survey participation is voluntary. Only one survey response per individual.

As a thank you for taking the time to complete this survey, you have the opportunity to be entered into a draw to win one of ten $100 prepaid Visa gift cards. Please note, that to accept a prize, you must be:
  • An MNA Citizen, and must provide a valid MNA Citizen ID number (can be found on the bottom right of your MNA Certificate, or on your MNA ID Card).
  • Currently residing in Alberta.
  • Aged 18 and older.

Thank you for sharing your voice to help shape our IPCA initiative. If you have questions about this survey, please email environment@metis.org
