Letter of Introduction

Dear Participant,

This letter is to introduce Emily Coutts, who is an Honours student in the School of Psychology at Flinders University. She will produce her student card, which carries a photograph, as proof of identity.

Emily is currently undertaking research leading to the production of her Honours thesis on physical activity and positive body image. She would be grateful if you would volunteer to assist in this project, completing a questionnaire which covers certain aspects of this topic. The questionnaire should take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

Be assured that any information provided will be treated in the strictest confidence and no information that may personally identify participants will be recorded on the questionnaires that you will be asked to complete. You are entirely free to discontinue participation at any time or to decline to answer particular questions.

Any enquiries you may have concerning this project can be directed to me at the address given above or by telephone on 8201 2482, by fax on 8201 3877 or by email ( Although it is unlikely, if the questionnaire package raises an issue that you wish to discuss with someone, you may wish to contact your doctor, who will be able to direct you to appropriate services. Relationships SA also provides subsidised personal counselling for the general public and can be contacted on 08 8223 4566, and Flinders University offers a counselling service which is free for Flinders University students and can be contacted on 08 8201 2118.

Thank you for your attention and assistance.

Yours sincerely

Prof Marika Tiggemann
