Please complete the details below to be notified of the next bronze medallion course. You will be emailed when registrations open (approximately 4-6 weeks prior to training commencement) and this will include a full training schedule and mandatory assessment dates.
At that time you will be required to meet the course pre-requisite swim of 400 metres freestyle in under 8.45 minutes at Bondi Icebergs pool. The pre-requisite swim time trials are set for two weekend dates within the month prior to the course commencing, you must attend ONE of these dates. We only accept swim times from club approved officials.
We strongly suggest swim and run/swim/run training for at least 3 months prior to course commencement. The training recommended is specific to your assessment which includes a 200m beach run leading directly to a 200m ocean swim followed again by a 200m beach run.
There are several ocean swim groups, and pool squad groups you can join to improve your swimming fitness. You can visit the Icebergs pool at Bondi where 3 different options are advertised including, Salty Fit, Neil Rodgers and Swim Lab. There are many others in the local area.
A great place to practice on your own, or with a friend is Clovelly beach as the sand distance are similar from waters edge to the wall and water distance when swimming out to just inside the break zone and back to shore.
