The objectives for this session were:
1) Discussion of the epidemiology and etiology of sepsis in hospitalized patients (including impact on geriatrics).
2) Differentiate between SIRS, sepsis, severe sepsis, and septic shock
3) Interactive case study presentation of Mr. H that will include discussion of sepsis clinical presentation, and implementation of surviving sepsis guidelines (including medication management).
4) Discussion of recent research during the case study that impact current sepsis management.
5) Discussion of importance of following sepsis guidelines for the purposes of reimbursement.
All of the identified objectives were met satisfactorily.(Required.)
