2025 ABOM-TRS and FAST Global Science Summit
Professionals' Travel Award

The FAST Global Science Summit & Gala is the biggest science and drug development event devoted to Angelman syndrome bringing together researchers, clinicians, therapists, families, and industry leaders from around the globe.

This three-day event features:
  • The scientific symposium for expert collaboration and data sharing (ABOM-TRS)
  • The Global Science Summit, where researchers present the latest breakthroughs directly to the AS community
  • The FAST Gala, our largest annual fundraiser, celebrating progress and building momentum

ABOM-TRS Meeting and FAST Global Science Summit Professionals’ Travel Awards provide support to assist professionals to attend the annual FAST Global Science Summit & Gala.

Eligibility & Submission Requirements
We understand budgets are tight, especially at universities, hospitals, and nonprofits. FAST is offering Professionals’ Travel Awards to support those who are working to making an impact in the Angelman syndrome community.

Travel awards will be awarded on a case-by-case basis, based on availability of funding and space at the event, as well as the eligibility of the applicants as evaluated from application submissions.


Eligibility:
  • Must plan to attend all three events on November 6-8:
    • Angelman Syndrome Biomarker and Outcomes Measure Consortium (A-BOM) Science Conference and FAST Translational Research Symposium (TRS): November 6
    • A closed non-public forum dedicated to scientists, industry members, clinicians and regulators
    • FAST Global Science Summit: November 7-8
    • FAST Gala: November 8
  • Previous ABOM-TRS and FAST Global Science Summit attendees are eligible to apply; however, priority will be given to first time attendees.
  • Must be an Angelman syndrome researcher, scientist, clinician or therapist (i.e. in your current role, at least a portion of your research must be focused on Angelman syndrome OR you must currently treat least one patient living with Angelman syndrome)
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Open to domestic and international attendees; however, the award is limited to the amounts listed under the ABOM-TRS Meeting and FAST Global Science Summit Professionals’ Travel Award below.
  • 2025 ABOM-TRS and FAST Global Science Summit speakers are not eligible for this Award.
  • Existing FAST investigators that have travel funds under their grants are not eligible for this Award.

Submission Requirements:


An application form below that includes:
  • Why and how attending the ABOM-TRS Meeting and FAST Global Science Summit will benefit the applicant.
  • Demonstration of financial need (availability and shortage of other financial sources/means).
  • Indication of whether this will be the first time attending the ABOM-TRS meeting and FAST Global Science Summit.
Personal information provided to FAST will be kept confidential.


Selection Criteria:
  • Demonstrates financial need.
  • Overall quality of the applicant's statement.
  • Priority will be given to first-time ABOM-TRS meeting and FAST Global Science Summit attendees.
  • If selected for a travel award, applicants must confirm their ability to attend the event.
The FAST Global Science Summit & Gala Travel Award includes the following:
  • Economy airfare for one or mileage expenses, not to exceed $1,000.
  • Entry into all events, including the ABOM-TRS meeting and Global Science Summit
  • One hotel room for 4 nights at Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld in Orlando, FL, checking in Wednesday, November 5, 2025, and checking out Sunday, November 9, 2025. Room and tax costs are included in the travel award; incidentals will be the responsibility of the awardees.
  • One complimentary gala ticket (must be 21+) to attend the 2025 FAST Gala on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
  • Complimentary breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided on Thursday. Complimentary breakfast and lunch will be provided on Friday. Complimentary breakfast and dinner will be provided on Saturday. Any other meals are the responsibility of the recipient.
  • A supplemental payment intended to help offset the recipient’s potential tax liability associated with the Travel Award.*. The supplemental payment will be made in good faith based on general tax guidance and does not constitute tax advice. The recipient is solely responsible for any and all federal, state, or local tax obligations resulting from the receipt of this Award and supplemental payments. Recipients are encouraged to consult with a qualified tax professional to understand their individual tax responsibilities.
*All Summit & Gala Travel Awards are taxable, pursuant to United States tax regulations. Recipients will be provided with a Form 1099 form, and are responsible for reporting the amount of the award as income and accurately filing their taxes. The financial amount of this gift card is dependent on the actual cost of the Travel Award.

FAST will directly purchase the plane tickets and hotel stay as detailed above and provide awardees with confirmation emails for airfare and hotel reservations and will provide the awardees with one complimentary Gala tickets.

If you are awarded a travel award and are unable to use the travel award as provided by FAST, you must notify FAST as soon as possible. Unused travel awards may not be transferred, resold or given to others under any circumstances. Failure to comply may result in loss of travel award or ticket giveaway privileges, for the current year and future years.

Applications close: June 25, 2025 at 11:59pm CT. ***PLEASE NOTE EXTENDED DEADLINE!
Winners notified: June 27, 2025.
Deadline to claim travel award: July 3, 2025 at 11:59pm CT.
