Public Input Survey
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requires all states and local governments to have up-to-date hazard mitigation plans prepared and approved in order to maintain eligibility for certain types of FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grants. Mitigation planning is the process of identifying hazards to which jurisdictions are at risk as well as developing actions that will reduce or prevent damages from those hazards.
Floyd County's Emergency Management Agency is currently developing an update to the 2022 Floyd County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan with assistance from the North Iowa Area Council of Governments (NIACOG). The overall goal of the Plan is to reduce the vulnerability of people and property in the planning area to the impacts of hazards and be pro-active in developing mitigation strategies and becoming more resilient.
The County EMA is seeking public input regarding hazards that may affect your community. Your input and feedback will be considered by your jurisdiction's representatives as the Plan is developed.
