American Agricultural Law Association 2026 Symposium Proposal Submission

  • About the American Agricultural Law Association: The American Agricultural Law Association (AALA) is a professional organization for legal and other professionals who focus on agricultural law and the legal needs of the agricultural and rural community. Founded in 1980, it serves as an independent, nonpartisan forum that provides education, information, networking, and resources on legal issues affecting farmers, agribusinesses, policymakers, and others connected to agriculture and rural areas.
  • Proposals Sought: The planning committee seeks high-quality Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs for designing a symposium that advances discussion of laws and public policies affecting agriculture. Proposals should deliver substantive, educational content and practical, non-promotional information. However, general firm branding is permitted on slides and materials.
  • Symposium Dates: The symposium will take place on November 5-7, 2026, at the Fairmont in Dallas, Texas.
  • Symposium Format: The symposium will be in-person, and presenters are expected to be present in-person. Virtual presentations will not be considered or selected.
  • CLE & Materials: Concurrent sessions are expected to qualify for CLE credits in most states. As a result, presenters are committing to the preparation of slides and supporting materials suitable for CLE applications and attendee use. Speakers are expected to adhere to all deadlines for submission of materials and slides.
  • Session Format & Length: A strong preference will be given to concurrent sessions designed for multi-speaker panel presentations with three presenters being ideal. Each concurrent session will run 60 minutes. Panels may be structured to incorporate substantive discussion and audience engagement.
  • Panel Composition & Diversity: Panels should include multiple perspectives and, generally, should not consist entirely of presenters from the same firm or organization. The committee will disfavor panels that lack cross-organizational representation. The committee encourages proposals that include presenters from under-represented or diverse backgrounds. The committee encourages proposals with at least one attorney speaking on the panel.
  • Multiple Proposals & Selection Limits: Applicants may submit multiple proposals. If submitting more than one proposal, indicate your priority order (e.g., 1 = top choice, 2 = second choice). The committee may limit the number of sessions assigned to any single presenter to ensure a broad and diverse program. In many cases, selected speakers will be scheduled for only one session. Indicating priorities helps the committee place speakers in their preferred session when possible.
  • Potential Collaboration: If similar proposals are submitted, the committee may invite speakers to combine proposals into a single panel.
  • Non-Applicable Questions: If a question does not apply to you, simply leave the field blank.
  • Deadlines & Notifications: Deadline to submit RPF is March 1, 2026. We will aim to notify all potential speakers of the final RFP decision by June 1, 2026.
  • Speaker Expenses: AALA offers a discounted speaker rate for those selected to present at the symposium. Speakers will cover their own travel and lodging expenses.
