A National Survey of Nurse Practitioners Working in Emergency Care Across Various Settings |
Dear Respondent,
I am faculty at Emory University and conducting a study with the purpose of exploring NP practice within the broader context of emergency care. Emergency care across diverse settings is evolving, and research examining the alignment between current NP practice and healthcare workforce needs is limited. The results of this study will expand and build upon existing NP emergency care survey data by reaching a more diverse sample of certified NPs, and identify existing practice barriers to inform NP education, practice, and policy development.
Eligibility criteria for this study include NPs practicing in a defined emergency care setting such as Emergency Department, Urgent Care, Emergency Department Clinical Decision Unit, Chest Pain Observation Unit, Emergency Medical Response Vehicle, Emergency Telehealth, Mobile Integrated Health, Correctional Facility or Occupational Health providing urgent care. Not working in a defined emergency care setting is an exclusion criterion for this study. The proposed study is a descriptive cross-sectional survey design targeting board-certified NPs practicing in an emergency care setting with certification status and barriers to NP practice as key outcomes.
I am interested in your practice experience in emergency care, so I have provided a brief 17-item online questionnaire via the SurveyMonkey platform which should take approximately 5 minutes to complete. I want to stress that your participation in this study is voluntary and all efforts to protect your identity and keep the information confidential will be taken. I have enclosed a consent form for your review. Please read the form and feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the study. I look forward to learning about your practice experiences in emergency care. Your participation will be greatly appreciated.
