US 36 between the City of Boulder and the Town of Lyons, also known as North Foothills Highway, has more motor vehicle crashes that involve cyclists than any other road in unincorporated Boulder County.
Boulder County is currently leading the North Foothills Bikeway Feasibility Study to explore options for improving safety and comfort for cyclists of all ages and abilities.
The study area is an 11-mile corridor between US 36 & Broadway in Boulder and US 36 & CO 66 (Ute Highway) in Lyons. To reduce motor vehicle- cyclist crashes, the study is evaluating options for a hard surface bikeway for cyclists and pedestrians, that would be separated from the highway and motor vehicle traffic. The study is focusing on options that would keep the bikeway mainly within the existing CDOT right-of-way. The Boulder County Transportation Planning Division is working with CDOT, County Parks and Open Space, the City of Boulder, and the Town of Lyons on the study.
Thank you for taking this brief survey for the North Foothills Bikeway Feasibility Study. The results of this survey will be used to inform project decision making going forward and we greatly appreciate your input.
