Survey Overview

USAID Asia All Children Reading (ACR) is conducting a Disability Inclusive Education Review to examine disability-inclusive early grade education programming, specifically focused on early grade reading, implemented and coordinated by USAID Missions in the Asia region. The goal is to identify any gaps or potential incentives to improve the education sector's response to disability-inclusion.

While “inclusion” captures a wide range of marginalized groups, the Inclusive Education Review is specifically looking at disability-inclusive education interventions within two types of USAID-funded early grade reading activities, described below:

1. Disability-specific Activity: Targeted USAID-funded activity designed to support only early grade reading for students with disabilities.
2. Broader education Activity: USAID-funded early grade reading activity that may, or may not, have some education interventions to support students with disabilities.

For the purposes of this survey, “early grade” and “basic education” refers to learners in Grades 1-4. Additionally, this survey follows the United Nations (UN) Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) definition of disability which states that disability is an evolving concept that “results from the interaction between persons with impairments and that attitudinal and environmental barriers that hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis as others.”

If you have played a technical role (either field office or home office-based, where you supported the design and/or implementation of project activities – for example, technical director/officer, reading/literacy specialist, gender and inclusion advisor, etc) on a USAID-funded basic education project in Asia within the last 10 years that included early grade reading, we invite you to fill out this brief survey. If you know of others who may be able to respond to this survey, we would appreciate if you could forward it to them. We anticipate that this survey will take no more than 15 minutes of your time. If possible, we kindly request your survey responses by July 8, 2022.

Please note that survey responses will be anonymous and individual responses will be kept confidential.

Thank you, in advance, for your participation in this survey. If you have any questions as you complete the survey, please reach out to Dr. Valerie Karr at valerie@inclusivedevpartners.com.
