The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) is now accepting nominations for Councilors. Councilors serve as key connectors across CUR, bringing multidisciplinary insight and cross-divisional perspective to support CUR’s mission and strategic priorities. They help elevate emerging trends, opportunities, and challenges while fostering alignment between divisional initiatives and organizational priorities.

Why Serve?
Serving as a CUR Councilor offers an opportunity to engage in cross-divisional leadership, connect ideas across disciplines, and contribute to CUR’s broader strategic conversations. Councilors help bring forward diverse perspectives from across the organization and play an important role in strengthening alignment and collaboration across CUR.

Councilor Expectations
Councilors support the members of their division in activities and programs that align with the CUR strategic plan, mission, vision, and values. Councilors serve as programmatic leaders and:
  • Participate in divisional meetings, council meetings, and any required CUR leadership meetings, such as the Annual Leadership Meeting
  • Serve as a liaison between divisions and the broader organization, supporting alignment between divisional initiatives and CUR’s strategic priorities
  • Act as ambassadors for CUR within their institutions and the broader undergraduate research community
  • Partner with Division leadership on topics related to CUR’s strategic priorities and community needs
  • Utilize multidisciplinary expertise and perspectives to advise on emerging needs, opportunities, and challenges across CUR
  • Serve as a resource to divisions in support of alignment with CUR’s mission and strategic priorities
  • Surface key trends and issues from divisions and the higher education community to inform Board-level understanding and strategic discussions
  • Identify and cultivate future leaders in partnership with divisional Nominations and Leadership Development Committees
  • Engage in CUR programming
  • Commit to a three-year term and maintain active CUR membership
