CUR Councilor (1 opening available in our Undergraduate Research Programs division)
The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) is now accepting nominations for Councilors in our Undergraduate Research Programs division. Councilors serve as key thought leaders who bring disciplinary insight, cross-sector knowledge, and strategic perspective to CUR’s organizational decision-making.
Why Serve?
Serving as a CUR Councilor is a unique opportunity to support CUR’s mission from a multidisciplinary, advisory perspective. Councilors function as essential connectors between Divisions and the Board of Directors, and between strategy and practice. They advance the future of undergraduate research by amplifying emerging issues, aligning divisional initiatives with CUR’s strategic goals, and guiding the evolution of CUR’s structure and programming.

Councilor Expectations
Representatives support the members of their division in activities and programs that align with the CUR strategic plan, mission, vision, and values. Division Representatives serve as programmatic leaders and:
• Participate in divisional meetings, council meetings, and any required CUR leadership meetings, such as the Annual Leadership Meeting
• Act as ambassadors of CUR, both at their home institution and at professional-related conferences and meetings
• Partner with Division leadership + members on key topics of the strategic plan
• Utilize multi-disciplinary expertise and perspectives to advise on issues of the organization
• Serve as a resource to Divisions, helping to align programmatic efforts to mission advancement and organizational strategy
• Surface key trends, threats, and opportunities heard across divisions and the higher education community for board awareness and strategic consideration
• Identify potential leaders of the future in partnership with the Nominations and Leadership Development Committee
• Engage in CUR programming
• Commit to a three-year term and maintain active CUR membership

Qualified candidates should submit their self-nomination and supporting materials by November 24, 2025 at 11:59pm Eastern. Partial submissions will not be reviewed.
