The Ottawa Student Transportation Authority is conducting public consultation at St Paul HS to collect information about the school community, and individuals’ thoughts, about:

OPTION 1:

Potentially changing the school’s bell times and moving grade 7 and 8 students to public transit:

a.    Between 8:45am and 9am in the morning

b.    Between 2:50pm and 3:05pm in the afternoon

OPTION 2:

Keeping the same bell times (8am to 2:05pm) and keeping grade 7 and 8 students on
yellow bus.

Details
Because St Paul HS yellow buses are integrated with other elementary schools, an early bell time is required to efficiently use existing vehicles.  We cannot change the bell time to a later start time and still keep grade 7 and 8 students on yellow buses.  A later bell time means all grade 7-12 students would be assigned a Presto pass for public transit.  Students with special needs would be evaluated for their ability to take public transit, or would be assigned to accessible transportation. Students in grades 9-12 will remain on public transit regardless.

These potential changes would come into effect in September 2020.  Notification of the decision regarding any proposed changes would occur no later than the end of February 2020 for the following school year.
