Jelleff Community Center, which is managed by the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington on behalf of the District’s Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), is located at the edge of Georgetown at the intersection of S Street and Wisconsin Avenue, NW (in Ward 2). Jelleff was constructed in the early 1950s, is badly out of date, and urgently needs new facilities and new ways of using the site to serve more members of the community. After a feasibility study for its renovation was completed in 2021, the DC Council approved $28 million for this important project.

DPR is deciding right now whether to renovate and expand parts of the old building or to construct a completely new building. DPR is also considering which programs and amenities to offer after renovation or construction for both inside the Center (e.g., basketball courts and meeting rooms) and outside the Center (e.g., the pool and baseball field).

Question Title

* 1. In what ZIP code is your home located (e.g., 20007)?

Question Title

* 2. What is your age?

Question Title

* 3. How many children reside in your household?

Question Title

* 4. Jelleff currently has a gym that is in high demand, especially for basketball, with little space for viewers, and only 3 rows of bleachers. Some community members have asked that the new or substantially renovated Jelleff include 2 full gyms, each suitable for high school basketball. The 2021 Jelleff Feasibility study suggested keeping the current gym and adding a half-size gym (which would suitable for practice, but not a game).

Please use the arrows or "drag and drop" to rank the following gym options based on how important you believe they are for this community center, with #1 being the most important.

Question Title

* 5. Possible indoor amenities and features at a new or substantially renovated Jelleff Community Center.

Please use the arrows or "drag and drop" to rank the following indoor amenities and features based on how important you believe they are for this community center, with #1 being the most important.

Question Title

* 6. How would you use a multi-purpose room (check all that apply)?

Question Title

* 7. Possible outdoor amenities and features at a new or substantially renovated Jelleff.

NOTE: Jelleff currently has an outdoor space that includes a high school baseball field. Keeping the high school baseball field restricts the possible "footprint" of a new building, which, in turn, limits the possible new indoor amenities and features. One option going forward is to replace the high school baseball field with a little league-sized baseball field, which would free up space for a larger "footprint" for a new building.  The popular soccer field would stay no matter what the new building footprint

With these tradeoffs in mind, please use the arrows or "drag and drop" to rank the following outdoor amenities and features based on how important you believe they are for this community center, with #1 being the most important.
