This year's theme is “Environmental Education for the Future,” so we are focusing on identifying and implementing eco-friendly resources. We are looking to highlight two-five student projects in each award ceremony tent/pavilion. If you teach in a K-12 Maryland Green School or are applying in 2021-2022 and have students who did a green school-related project this year, you are eligible to apply for your students to present. Presentation length: 5 minutes maximum.
Presentations can describe projects that cover Water Conservation, Energy Conservation, Solid Waste Management, Habitat Restoration, Structures for Environmental Learning, Responsible Transportation, Healthy School Environment, Community Outreach, Stewardship, and more. Presentations should be dynamic, creative, and fun for an audience of mostly students PreK-12.
Your students’ presentation should motivate other students to go back to their own schools and think about their role in their school and their community.
Please complete the questionnaire to explain what your students are interested in presenting. Presenters must be students, NOT teachers or mentors (although teachers and mentors may help complete the application as much is appropriate for the age of your students). Students and teachers/mentors MUST be present on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Sandy Point State Park for the Youth Summit.
Please note that there will be no visual presentations (e.g. PowerPoint or Prezi Presentations). A microphone will be available. Anticipated crowd is 500-1,000 people seated in a covered outdoor space. Students will present from a platform or stage. Younger students may be accompanied onstage by the mentor or another adult.
