MONTGOMERY COUNTY PUBLIC POLICY COMMITTEE
GCAAR’s Public Policy – Montgomery County Committee discusses the impact of proposed legislative and regulatory changes in Montgomery County, Maryland on real estate business and the housing market and decides whether to take a position on those proposals. The committee focuses its advocacy efforts on those issues of greatest and most direct impact to the REALTOR® community.
This committee welcomes all GCAAR members to serve, regardless of District of Columbia or Maryland state affiliation.
Membership
Members must attend monthly meetings, participate in task forces and attend hearings.
2027 focus
In 2027, Montgomery County will start a new Council term with five new councilmembers, and we will have a new county executive. The county also faces major issues, like tax policy and proposed increases, a large structural budget deficit, data center legislation and anti-housing efforts. Committee members will review proposed changes to housing legislation and regulations that impact all aspects of the housing marketplace and the real estate industry. As the landscape shifts, GCAAR is looking for members who want to engage in policy discussions and aid the evolution of the real estate industry through advocacy.
