Committees are critical to the success of GCAAR’s members, and we deeply appreciate those who volunteer their time and professional expertise to the real estate community.

NOTE: For new committee applicants ONLY, GCAAR is waiving the GCAAR Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Champions requirement for the FIRST year of committee membership. In order to apply for a second year of committee service, members will need to become
GCAAR Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Champions (that is, to have completed At Home with Diversity (AHWD), Fairhaven and NAR’s Implicit-Bias training, and reported your completion of these items to GCAAR – learn more). This exemption does not apply to members who have previously applied to or served on a GCAAR committee, who must be Champions at the time of application.

Applications for 2027 committees are NOW OPEN and will close November 4, 2026. Applicants will be notified of appointments in early December. Appointments are made only once each year. Thank you for your interest in serving on a GCAAR committee!

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee
What we do
The mission of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee is to identify opportunities for conversation and education, establish expectations of diversity, and promote the practice of diversity, equity and inclusion within our membership base and industry. This includes supporting staff in their planning, marketing and execution of events, such as the Champions field trip, History & Power of Real Estate (HPRE) sessions and DEI events with GCAAR affinity groups. This committee also promotes these events, along with DEI-related classes, including At Home with Diversity® and Bias Override: Overcoming Barriers to Fair Housing.
Membership
Members should demonstrate a personal and professional commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Members attend monthly meetings and work between meetings individually or in subcommittees. Members should expect to attend at least three DEI events during the year of their tenure as part of their commitment to recruit new GCAAR Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Champions. This could include the events noted above or recruitment events.

2027 focus
- Growing the number of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Champions by increasing awareness of the program and actively recruiting new Champions. Members will conduct direct, peer-to-peer outreach, promote the program on their social media channels, engage in direct conversations with brokers and office staff, and encourage attendance at GCAAR events.
- Committee members are to attend at least three DEI events per year and encourage other members’ participation in all GCAAR events.
- Promoting the practices of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and GCAAR’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiatives within member brokerages, networks and the larger GCAAR community.
