The Point-in-Time (PIT) Count is an annual, overnight count of all persons experiencing homelessness. It helps us understand the scope of homelessness in Philadelphia, plus identify trends, gaps, and service needs of those experiencing homelessness.
This important event relies on the support of volunteers. To make it a success, we need your help!


2026 Point-in-Time Count
Date: Wednesday, January 28, 2026
Time: Varies, depending on volunteer type

1101 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107.

Volunteering Options:

Volunteers who register as Counters will be broken up into groups, assigned to canvass a particular neighborhood, surveying and counting individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness.

*We are no longer accepting Event Logistics volunteers. All vacancies have been filled for this volunteer position.*

All volunteers will be provided with:
  • Refreshments
  • PIT Count swag

Volunteering Logistics and Requirements:

Counters
Time of Service: 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. (end times may vary)
  • Counters MUST attend one training
  • Volunteers will be assigned to teams to canvass assigned zones
  • Volunteers must be willing and able to walk long distances during their assigned shift timeframe
  • Volunteers will complete surveys with unsheltered homeless participants in an assigned zone
  • People with lived experience of homelessness who participate in the PIT Count will be paid an $80 stipend (up to 50 people max)
Event Logistics Volunteer
Time of service: 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Volunteers will be assigned set up, break down, and logistical tasks at the PIT headquarters
