The Shire of Exmouth Community Volunteer and Sporting Awards 2026 recognize the immense value and significant impact volunteers make to the social, cultural, economic, and environmental prosperity of Exmouth. This award celebrates exemplary volunteers who have inspired and encouraged the spirit of volunteerism throughout our great community. Together, we acknowledge the invaluable contribution these selfless individuals have made to our town.
Nominations
To submit a nomination for an award, please read the award criteria and complete the nomination form. If you are unable to submit a nomination online, please contact the Shire of Exmouth on 9949 3000 to obtain a hard copy of the nomination form.

To be considered, all nominations must be received by the Shire of Exmouth before the closing date and time: 4.30pm, Friday 28 April 2026.

General nomination criteria:

Community members, organisations and sporting clubs are encouraged to nominate volunteers from the Exmouth community who deserve recognition for their inspiring and exemplary voluntary contributions during the preceding year.

The following criteria apply for all categories:

  1. Individual nominees must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, living in the Shire of Exmouth.
  2. Nominations for individual awards may be put forward by community organisations, local and state government agencies, industry groups or individuals. Individuals may self-nominate.
  3. If an individual is eligible for more than one category, and is nominated for more than one category, a separate nomination form must be submitted for each addressing the criteria for that award.
  4. Nominees must agree to any media publicity and promotion associated with the awards as requested by Shire of Exmouth or its nominated communications/PR liaison.
  5. To be eligible for the Event of the Year award, the nominated organisation must be a volunteer based, not-for-profit and incorporated community or sporting organisations based in the Shire of Exmouth.
  6. The nomination must relate to actions that have taken place between April 2025 and March 2026, excluding the Exceptional Service award.
  7. It is strongly encouraged that the nominee is made aware and agrees to the nomination.
  8. Nominators must complete all aspects of the nomination form to be eligible.
Award Categories and Criteria:

Awards will be presented in the following categories:

❖ Woodside Energy Volunteer of the Year- Presented to an individual who has made an exemplary voluntary contribution and who through their volunteering has made a significant impact on the Exmouth community.

Criteria
· The individual has volunteered in the Shire of Exmouth during April 2025-March 2026.
· The individual through their volunteering has made a significant impact on the local Exmouth community.

❖ Young Volunteer of the Year
- Presented to a young person (under 25 years old) who has made a significant contribution and who through their volunteering has positively impacted on the local Exmouth community.

Criteria
· Must be 24 years or younger on the 31 March 2026
· The individual has volunteered in the Shire of Exmouth during April 2025-March 2026.
· The individual through their volunteering has made a significant impact on the local Exmouth community.

❖ Shire of Exmouth Exceptional Service Award - This award recognises an individual who has made an exemplary long-term contribution to volunteering and who through their volunteering has demonstrated inspiring qualities and leadership resulting in the enhancement of the Exmouth community.

Criteria
· The individual through their volunteering has made a significant impact on the local Exmouth community through their leadership.
· The individual has made a long-term contribution to volunteering in Exmouth.
· The individual has through their volunteering inspired others in the community to volunteer.

❖ Committee Member of the Year - Presented to a committee member who has demonstrated leadership and good practice in the management of their organisation or club and the Exmouth community.

Criteria
· The individual has filled a crucial role in the committee of their organisation.
· The individual has demonstrated positive leadership in their organisation or club.
· The individual has inspired good governance and management practices in their organisation or club.

❖ Sports Star of the Year - This award celebrates an individual for their outstanding sporting achievements.

Criteria
· The individual has competed at the highest level available for their age category in the region.
· The individual displays outstanding sportsmanship in their chosen sport.
· The individual contributes to the continued growth of their sport.
❖ Association or Club of the Year - Presented to a club or community organisation that has demonstrated good organisational practices, can demonstrate sound financial management and has sustained consistent membership or growth in membership numbers.

Criteria
·
The club or organisation has updated their details in 2026 with the Shire of Exmouth Community team.
· The club or organisation can demonstrate sound financial practices.
· The club or organisation has maintained a consistent membership base or has had a growth in membership in the past year

❖ Event of the Year
- Presented to a club or community organisation that has provided innovative leadership and through good practice in event management brings about positive and enduring benefit to the Exmouth community.

Criteria

• The club or organisation has held an event in Exmouth between April 2025 - March 2026.
• The event was innovative and provided social or economic benefit to the community.
• The event through good event management brought about a positive and enduring benefit to the Exmouth community.
