2025 Expression of Interests for Cattle Tick Accredited Certifier Course
Equestrian Queensland is working with Biosecurity Queensland to facilitate a Cattle Tick Certification (horse only) course to be conducted in the last quarter of 2025. The venue will be in the SEQ region, date and location will be confirmed. Applicants representing an equestrian club or organisation will be given a priority.
Equestrian Queensland is inviting one representative from each EQ Club to register their interest to attend the training. As a guide, the registration and annual compliance cost for accreditation is approximately $1000, based on the fee structure below:
Application to become an Accredited Certifier (AC) $367.49 per annum;
Annual Audit $351 per hour, this fee is charged from when an Inspector leaves the office until return and associated paperwork;
Public Liability insurance (be sourced by your organisation and proof supplied to the department);
Accredited certifier books $32.80 / 100.
Accredited certifiers can issue biosecurity certificates and may inspect and/or treat horses in order to verify a tick free status. Inspection and treatments may be performed on property or at a clearing facility. On property inspections and treatments will allow livestock to be certified at their place of origin and moved directly to their destination.
The registration of a club Cattle Tick Certifier would enable Queensland clubs that are in a cattle tick zone to have a person readily available to treat horses before they return back over the NSW border from an event.
