2025 NDHP Youth Academy

The North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) Youth Academy is a three-day residential learning experience for young adults ages 16-19. The academy will be held at the Law Enforcement Training Academy (LETA) in Bismarck from Monday, July 28 – Thursday, July 31, 2025.

Students will be instructed by NDHP troopers in firearms safety, traffic enforcement, hand to hand defensive tactics, criminal law, K-9 handling, and defensive driving. Students will earn CPR certification and insurance premium reduction.

This hands-on program will allow participants to learn basic duties of a North Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper and gain an understanding of the values and commitment of NDHP troopers.

On-site lodging will be available, but is not mandatory, at BSC on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights. There is no charge to participate in the Youth Academy. The North Dakota American Legion is a co-sponsor of the Academy.

Applications accepted through May 16, 2025, and is limited to 18 North Dakota students.
