Thank you for your interest in the NC Eastern Region Odyssey of the Mind Spontaneous Tournament! This event is a great opportunity to introduce the Odyssey of the Mind to interested parents & kids, form a “dream team” from kids who have split into different schools, or even put together a neighborhood or community group for a fun Saturday morning.

This form registers one team for the tournament. If you are a parent of a child who isn't part of a membership, we encourage you to form a team with others that are interested - you don't need an Odyssey of the Mind membership!

After you register, you will receive an invoice email that you can either pay immediately through PayPal or pay by check. If payment is not received by October 11th, you will forfeit your registration. Please do not no-show or not pay - you are likely taking away a spot from another team that would like to compete!

As part of registration, you will receive a small set of spontaneous problems that you can use to practice for the competition.

Tournament details:
  • Date: Saturday, October 19th 8:30am - 2:00pm
  • Location: Ephesus Elementary School in Chapel Hill (1495 Ephesus Church Rd, Chapel Hill, NC 27517)
  • Cost: $50 per team
  • Team size & structure: 3-7 members per team. Teams will register in the division of their oldest member, similar to a typical tournament. Teams will compete within their age division.
  • Team requirements: No Odyssey of the Mind membership required; no previous spontaneous experience required.
  • Tournament format: Each team will compete in each of the three spontaneous problem types: verbal, verbal-hands on, and hands-on. There is no long-term component or preparation needed before tournament day.

Again, every submission of this form is a single team registration. If you want to register multiple teams, you will need to submit the form multiple times. If you wish to pay one consolidated invoice, please email Andy Cordes at andycordes@gmail.com and list all the teams you have registered.
