1. Invitation to Participate - Applications Accepted Until August 12th.

The Sustainability Leadership Awards recognize all levels of sustainability efforts and are open to any TLMI supplier or converter member. If you have questions regarding this application, contact rosalyn.bandy@tlmi.com

It doesn’t matter where you are along the sustainability journey; what matters is that you have started that journey. Are you in the process of developing your goals? Has your company started building a strategy? Are you leading the way for the industry? Maybe you are somewhere in between. TLMI wants to recognize our members who are taking steps that show their company is focused on sustainability. Since work on sustainability is ever evolving, and no one is ever really finished, there are three different pathways to submitting an application for this award:

*The Trailhead Award: This award is earned by a member company that is early on in their sustainability journey. They may not have fully implemented their sustainability efforts, but they have some internal goals and have begun planning a strategy. Judges want to understand how they are starting out and what's next, so be sure to explain this in detail. NOTE: If your company submits data to any public disclosure tool such as CDP or GRI or has ISO 14001 or Sustainable Green Printing Partnership certifications, choose either the Journey or Elevation levels.

*The Journey Award: This award is earned by a member company that has already implemented some short-term actions aimed at long-term metrics. Judges want to understand key metrics that are tracked to improve a company's business through sustainability efforts. Applicants must have publicly stated sustainability goals.

*The Elevation Award: This award is earned by a member company that is leading the industry with fully formed sustainability goals, strategies, and executions that are improving multiple aspects of impacts on the environment and society. Judges want to see demonstrated, measurable, environmental, and social benefits as a result of processes, products, or programs that go beyond regulatory requirements. Applicants must have publicly stated sustainability goals.

ELIGIBILITY & JUDGING
Please focus your responses in the categories of PEOPLE, PRODUCT, or PROCESS. All TLMI supplier and converter members are eligible to apply. The general principle is to reward the aspects of people, product, or process that have the greatest positive impact on the environment and society. This can be demonstrated in current metrics that show transformative impacts. In addition to environmental impacts, social (or people) aspects of sustainability such as justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion will receive extra points from judges. The more factual information you can provide – including a written explanation of the who, what, when, how, why, and relevant supporting data, the more favorable judges will be. Companies can win more than once; however, if you have won at one level you must advance to the next level. Elevation winners can enter at that level multiple times.

Examples of some previous winning applications:
  • Process and Product: Decreased waste disposal rate through source reduction, reuse, recycling, and/or prevention.
  • Process and People: A diversity and inclusion program to assist marginalized community members.
  • Process: Increased energy efficiency, including using renewable energy.
  • Product and Process: Reduced environmental impacts of materials through product innovation, a new technology, process, or purchasing plan.
