These trainings are designed to build upon the skills and experiences you already have and teach you how Samaritan's Purse operates within a disaster context. Expressing interest does not guarantee an invitation to training.

Medical Coordinator
This training is focused on Medical Leadership in Emergency Responses providing a foundation for assessing, implementing, and managing medical programs. This training will open opportunities to field office support of medical programs including outpatient primary health, mobile medical, antenatal care, vaccine, and nutrition programming.

Prerequisites: Samaritan's Purse medical deployment experience
Preferred Skills/Experience: previous NGO management experience

Medical & Pharmacy Logistics/Inventory Management
This training covers the inventory function essential to the management and distribution of medical consumables and pharmaceuticals used within an Emergency Field Hospital (EFH) or other emergency medical deployments. The training will cover receiving the initial supplies, setting up the medical supply stockroom, daily inventory management functions and related supply management responsibilities.

Prerequisites: none
Required Skills: strong Excel proficiency; highly organized; detail oriented
Preferred Skills/Experience: supply management, pharmacy operations, medical logistics, general inventory management, detailed oriented, and/or physical demands

Medical Operations
This training covers medical operations of all non-clinical areas of the Emergency Field Hospital (EFH) and other medical deployments. Medical Operations includes the setup, operation and management of an EFH and other medical deployments.

Prerequisites: Samaritan's Purse EFH deployment experience
Preferred Skills/Experience: background in health care management, public health, emergency management, procurement, logistics and/or EFH build

Emergency Medical Response (EMR) Build/Setup
This training will cover Samaritan’s Purse emergency medical response capabilities, standard designs for emergency field hospital (EFH) building, setting up standard tents, electrical and WASH support systems at the EFH.

Prerequisites: none
Preferred Skills/Experience: background in construction, carpentry, electrical, and/or WASH

Infectious Disease
This training will cover protocols and practice for medical practitioners and WASH support staff responding to infectious diseases including cholera, Ebola, and respiratory viruses. This will provide training in Samaritan's Purse PPE & IPC protocol.

Prerequisites: Samaritan's Purse DART deployment experience. No pre-existing health conditions that would limit being able to Donn/Dodd PPE.
Preferred Skills/Experience: medical practitioner qualified to treat patients in such environments and/or WASH engineer/technician

WASH Program Manager & Technician
This course will provide hands on training to equipment commonly used on DART and teach general programmatic approaches to water, sanitation, and hygiene.

Prerequisites: none
Preferred Skills/Experience: engineering degree (civil, environmental, structural, mechanical, chemical) and/or solar power experience, plumbing, technical background in water resources or environmental management

Shelter Program Manager
This training will cover common designs and interventions pertaining to Samaritan's Purse shelter response strategy and program management.

Prerequisites: Samaritan's Purse DART deployment experience and/or INGO programmatic experience
Preferred Skills/Experience: background as an architect, structural engineer, building and/or contracting

Emergency Food Assistance Program Manager
This training will provide an overview of food programming and management of food distributions and warehousing. Also, this training will provide an introduction to WFP and USAID guidelines/reporting requirements.

Prerequisites: Samaritan's Purse DART deployment experience and/or INGO programmatic experience
Required Skills: strong Excel proficiency
Preferred Skills/Experience: detail oriented, logistics minded, program management, supply chain management, and/or external grant management and implementation

Procurement Policy
This training will cover policies and processes pertaining to supply chain management and general logistics.

Prerequisites: Samaritan's Purse DART deployment experience and/or other relevant field experience
Required Skills: strong Excel proficiency
Preferred Skills/Experience: detail-oriented, quick thinking, enjoy problem solving, served in a logistics capacity on DART, warehousing and/or general logistics

Distribution
Most responses with Samaritan’s Purse contain a large distribution component. This training will provide a hands on experience receiving/preparing NFIs for distribution, warehousing, conducting community level and church distributions, and will conclude with a full day simulation of setting up a distribution in a recently liberated village.

Logistics: Warehouse, Fleet, and Commodity Management
This training will equip you to manage a variety of functions including warehousing, fleet, sending/receiving, and flight operations. You will learn standard processes and gain hands-on experience that will prepare you to fill one of these key logistical roles on a response.

Information Officer (IO)
The information officer is responsible for collecting, coordinating and validating high quality activity and response data for the purpose of reporting all activities initiated on a DART. This training will provide an overview of the techniques & procedures Samaritan’s Purse uses to ensure accurate, standardized, and quality data collection. The training will also provide an overview of the mobile data collection software used during deployments.

Required Skills: strong Excel proficiency and report writing
Preferred Skills/Experience: Monitoring and Evaluation or specialized in data analytics

Medical Information Officer (MIO)
This training will focus on equipping staff to understand the fundamentals of collecting high quality medical data, maintaining patient data privacy, identifying/tracking indicators, and the importance medical data and how it reflects activities - both to actors and donors. Trainees will also be introduced to the data collection software and reports to be written and submitted by the MIO during deployments.

Required Skills: strong Excel proficiency
Preferred Skills/Experience: comfortability working in medical sphere but do not practice bedside, background in M&E, data analytics, and/or comfortable on computer systems – digital data entry, filtering tables, and troubleshooting basic computer issues

Finance Office and Field Accountant Training
The finance officer is responsible for ensuring Samaritan’s Purse financial policies and procedures are followed, maintaining cash accountability and requests, assisting with budgets, and providing guidelines for DART staff during a response. This training will provide an overview of policies and procedures pertaining to Samaritan’s Purse’s financial systems, an overview on financial software utilized by Samaritan’s Purse, and review all forms and processes.

Required Skills: strong Excel proficiency
Preferred Skills/Experience: background in finance, accounting, banking, cashier and/or bookkeeping

Program Management and Community Outreach
This training will introduce foundational strategies and principles of program implementation. Participants will gain understanding of the DART program life cycle, approval process, activity tracking and reporting expectations, equipping them to effectively implement DART programs and engage in ministry within the context and culture of a response. Training curriculum will include humanitarian principles and standards, conflict management, and introduce a framework for working with partners on DART.

Prerequisites: Samaritan's Purse DART deployment experience and/or INGO programmatic experience
Required Skills: strong Excel proficiency
Preferred Skills/Experience: background in program management and/or working with teams in cross-cultural environments

HR, Admin, and Base Management
The Base Manager and HR/Admin Coordinator work closely together to coordinate the arrivals and departures, meals, base inventory, lodging accommodations and other related tasks for DART staff throughout the response. This training will provide an overview of various trackers utilized by IHQ, HR systems, Finance and Procurement policy. This is done through experience-based modules on coordinating a wide range of details in both international and domestic contexts.

Preferred Skills/Experience: strong organizational skills, working knowledge of Excel, and a strong multitasker; background in administration and/or Human Resources

Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) Technician
This training will provide a broad overview of the IT equipment and procedures utilized in the field during responses for both medical and non-medical operations. During the training, you will have the opportunity to gain a better understanding of our radios, networking equipment, laptops, tablets, satellite equipment and various other systems.

Preferred Skills/Experience: 1-2 years of relevant IT work

DART in Conflict Environments
The DART in Conflict Environments Training is intended for DART staff that self-identify to be deployed in high-risk areas, including conflict zones. The goal of this training is to strengthen confidence when dealing with high-risk or critical situations, cover the necessary skills to ensure the safety of civilians, and provide useful tools to allow staff to react as effectively as possible in high risk situations.

Prerequisites: Samaritan's Purse DART deployment experience
Preferred Skills/Experience: desire to be deployed at a moment's notice to a high-risk area
