MOBILIZING OUR COWORKERS IS HOW WE WIN A STRONGER UNION CONTRACT.
BECOME A CAT MEMBER!
Management feels pressure when hundreds of City of Palo Alto workers are united, and organized. Collective actions send a clear message that we mean business about our union contract and our working conditions must improve. Collective actions start when we have a strong Contract Action Team (CAT).
What does a Contract Action Team (CAT) do?
The Contract Action Team is a volunteer team and the bridge between SEIU members at worksites and members at the bargaining table. With your involvement in our union Contract Action Team, we can educate our coworkers about what management says if they reject our proposals and empower each other to stand up for what’s right and in LARGE NUMBERS.
CAT members' duties include:
- Serve as a bridge between the bargaining team and the broader union membership, ensuring that concerns are accurately conveyed.
- Recruit and organize coworkers to attend union meetings, participate in actions, and show solidarity during negotiations.
- Share materials at worksites on key issues, updates, and protests/actions during critical phases of the negotiation process.
- Spread urgent information from the bargaining table to your worksite
- Attend regular CAT meetings to plan, strategize, and execute next steps
