About WE Local
WE Local conferences are hosted by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) to bring together participants at all stages of their collegiate and professional journeys. Conferences take place around the globe so engineers, allies, and partners can connect through professional development workshops, inspirational speakers, and networking opportunities.

Keynote Criteria
Keynote speakers are often the highlight of the conference for attendees. Keynote presentations should not only be thought-provoking and motivational, but also draw from personal experience. The most successful keynote speakers are those who are authentic and engage with the audience.
Keynote speakers should meet the following criteria.
  • Well-known and recognized for their engineering, scientific, leadership or entrepreneurial achievement.
  • Known as a technical, executive or policy leader in their field by peers.
  • Engaging speaker.
  • Identifies as female/woman.
Preference may be given to speakers who lives in, are from, or do business in the same region/country as the WE Local conference.

Selection Process
SWE will thoroughly review all submissions and provide a response to each nominator. Nominees not chosen will be considered for other speaking roles at SWE events (for the current or future years) if they so desire. Selected candidates will be invited to participate at least 2 months prior to conference.

Upon acceptance, the following criteria must be met by the keynote speaker:
  • Must have the support of their organization.
  • Must be able to commit to speaking during the selected conference dates.
