2023 OSBA Annual Convention

OSBA's 77th Annual Convention,
Nov. 9-11, 2023,
at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront Hotel.
OSBA is seeking informative and interesting workshops primarily targeting school board members and superintendents. We are looking for equitable best practices across rural and urban settings that impact student success in one or more of the following categories:
- Board culture and climate: effective leadership tools that foster high student learning
- Board-superintendent relationship: behavior and communication best practices that promote transformational leadership
- Student achievement and data: how to use data to identify student needs and ensure success for every student
- Community engagement: board collaboration and partnerships with all community segments
- Student role in board governance: how to meaningfully engage with youth for decision making
- Supporting student and staff well-being: best practices and innovation for supporting students and staff socially and emotionally
- Administrative professionals’ role in leadership: tools and best practices for building an effective relationship on the governance team
Qualifying Criteria
Workshop presenters must be from an OSBA member organization or an OSBA educational partner (i.e., ODE, COSA, Education Northwest or other nonprofit education-related entity) or co-present with an OSBA member organization or an OSBA educational partner.
Guidelines
All workshops are 75 minutes, and will be held on Friday, Nov. 10, and Saturday, Nov. 11. If you have any special scheduling requests, please contact Janet Avila-Medina ASAP. Please note: we will try our best to accommodate but cannot guarantee requests.
Selected proposal applicants will be notified of their workshop date and time by Aug. 1. Once notified, no changes to workshop schedules, titles or descriptions can be made. We will accept presenter changes under special circumstances, such as illness, etc. Please notify Janet of presenter changes ASAP.

If you are interested in presenting at the 2023 OSBA Annual Convention, please submit this workshop proposal form by June 30, 2023. Please note: if your proposal is accepted, there is no charge for presenting. Speakers are not reimbursed for travel expenses, however, and must pay registration fees if attending any unrelated sessions.
