A 20-member board of directors governs the Alpha Omega International Dental Society is currently seeking applications for individuals who wish to contribute their time and talent to serve on the 2020 Alpha Omega International Dental Society Board of Directors.

A.  What are Board members expected to do?
Working with the other board members and Executive Director, a new board member provides their insight and experience. Many board members have experience volunteering with other community organizations.

B.  What do Board members get in return for their service?
Past board members and leaders have expressed that by serving on the board, they were able to meet fellow members that they may not frequently encounter. They heard different viewpoints and shared the common goal of helping this 112-year organization. Board members also shared how they can represent their home chapters or areas and how the connection to the international AO community has expanded.

C. Is there a new Board member orientation?
Yes, during the  2021 AO International Convention in St. Petersburg, Florida (December 27th - January 1st). The 2021 International President and Executive Director will lead the orientation.

D.  May I nominate myself?
Yes. AO members may nominate themselves.

E.  May I nominate someone else?
Yes, but please inform this person and encourage them to complete an application.

F.  When are the Board elections?
Yes, all nominations are collected and distributed to the delegates who attend the International Convention in St. Petersburg, Florida. Candidates are required to participate in the convention.

G. When does the full Board of Directors regularly meet?
The Board has 2-3 annual conference calls, one in-person meeting at the annual convention, and if applicable, an in-person meeting at the mid-year board meeting. 

H.  When is the nomination form due?
A completed application must be submitted to AO by Wednesday, June 30, 2021.  Please send the form to Heidi Weber, Executive Director, at hweber@ao.org.
