I consider myself a motivating example of the outcome of social services. A single mother to a developmentally delayed child who was in need of assistance. I grasped the assistance offered and implemented the services provided into the growth and stabilization of my family. I progressed in areas that were in demand of attention. I exercised my rights that all low income families are entitled to. With the assistance provided me, I am now a homeowner of 3 years. I earned my associates degree in early childhood development. I am a mother to a 10-year-old autistic boy who is the most highly functioning young adult whom is on the spectrum.

The agency has been able to help my family in some difficult times. I feel I could be a great resource in helping develop new programs and deliver services to other families when they are in those times of need.

I am interested in serving as a representative of the Low Income population because I feel it’s important for us to have a voice, we make up most of the population, yet we are the ones who are the least represented. I am a mother of 4 children, help raise my grandson, I have a lot of ideas on how to improve quality of life and insight for this population. I have been a part of the policy council in the past, I want to help make a difference in my community. Head Start helped me become a better parent, I just want to make sure it’s around for the future generation.
