The Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners (VCNP) is the statewide professional organization for all nurse practitioners (NPs) licensed in Virginia. Established in 1974 - originally as a nurse practitioner professional practice group (NP/PPG), then in 1984 changing to the VCNP - it serves as the voice of NPs in the Commonwealth. The VCNP goals and purpose include:
  • To increase the awareness of and the impact of the role of NPs on health care and on the professional, educational, and political systems;
  • To facilitate the advancement of the NP role as an integral component of quality health care delivery through public relations, political activism and consultation;
  • To foster professional and collegial growth through continuing education;
  • To provide for a communication system for NPs throughout the state of Virginia
The purpose of this survey is twofold: first, to explore and gain a better understanding of the characteristics and practice patterns of NPs to provide data-driven metrics to respond to policy issues challenging health care in the Commonwealth; and second, to improve the services offered by the VCNP. The survey will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. The survey will expire on February 3.
