2020 Alameda County Arts Leadership Awards
NOMINATION INSTRUCTIONS

Submission Deadline: Friday, May 29, 2020, 12:00 midnight

Statement of Purpose
This annual program enables the Alameda County Arts Commission to recognize five individuals, one from each of the five districts of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, for their outstanding achievements and contributions impacting the arts community and the residents of Alameda County. Awardees will be presented to the Alameda County Board of Supervisors by the Arts Commission.

Nominated Individuals Must Meet the Following Criteria

• A resident of Alameda County during the nomination period and award process;
• Involved in an arts discipline including, but not limited to, music, dance, visual arts, literature, theater, film and video, traditional crafts and folk arts, and new media;
• Involved with an Alameda County arts organization. Examples of involvement include, but are not limited to, artist, staff member, board member, volunteer, donor, supporter, advocate, etc.

Additionally, two individuals may be nominated together if their efforts, during the last two years or more, are through a business partnership and the individuals meet the criteria listed in this call including the requirement that both individuals are involved in the same Alameda County arts organization.

This award is open to individuals, including youth, who live in Alameda County regardless of race, color, national origin, physical challenge, religious or political affiliations. The following are not eligible: Current Members of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, elected officials, Members of the Alameda County Arts Commission and Public Art Advisory Committee, Arts Commission staff and individuals who have received a past Arts Leadership Award (Past recipients are listed on the following pages).

Nomination statements will become the property of the Office of the Alameda County Arts Commission. During the review process, the names of the nominators will not be disclosed. During the review process, Office of the Alameda County Arts Commission may contact the nominees to confirm their home and work addresses and other information in the nomination statement. After the selection of the award recipients, the nominators’ names may be disclosed to the Arts Commissioners, the award recipients and the general public.

Selection Process
The Members of the Alameda County Arts Commission will review the nominations at the regular Arts Commission Meeting in June or July. The Arts Commission and the Alameda County Board of Supervisors will recognize the award recipients in late September or early October to celebrate National Arts and Humanities Month.
