Hardship Membership Scholarship Application

ELIGIBILITY

Scholarship Recipients:
-are responsible for fundraising for a 501(c)(3) organization
-are from an organization that meets the criteria for the scholarship to which they are applying
-or have been laid off due to COVID-19, but plans to continue working in the fundraising field.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Submit the completed application. You will be notified regarding the scholarship committee's decision.

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

Winning scholarship recipients must submit their application for AFP membership in the appropriate membership category directly to AFP International. AFP NWA will reimburse recipients or recipient organization.

Hardship Scholarships are designed to assist non-profits and/or fundraising professionals during the COVID shutdown.

Hardship Chapter Membership Scholarship | AFP of Northwest Arkansas has implemented a hardship scholarship for non-profits and fundraisers during the COVID-19 shutdown. AFP NWA awards three types of membership scholarships to defray the costs of joining the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

* 5. Small Nonprofit Organizational Membership

Open to nonprofit organizations who can answer yes to all the following criteria:

An operating budget of less than $1,000,000.

A fundraising department with less than two (2) full time equivalent (FTE) staff.

Not affiliated with a larger institution supporting their operations; and

Individually incorporated or otherwise organized as a separate entity in the laws of the specific country.

The organization will designate one fundraising professional to receive the benefits offered in this membership category. The membership will be transferred to another individual if the member leaves the organization. AFP of NWA will reimburse the organization $155 as the scholarship recipient.

Young Professionals Scholarship

Open to persons who hold some degree of responsibility directly for fundraising, work within the US and Canada and are compensated for their services, and are 30 years old or younger.

AFP of NWA will reimburse the member (or organization sponsoring membership) $100 as recipient.

Professional Membership

AFP of NWA will award one professional hardship membership. Priority will be given to individuals who have been a member but due to the COVID-19 is not able to pay their dues. Consideration will also be given to individuals whose membership may have lapsed due to budget shortfalls due to COVID-19.

APF of NWA will reimburse the member $285 as recipient.

* 13. Applicant's Certification | I am a full-time fundraising professional or spend at least 50% of my time fundraising on behalf of a non-profit organization. I understand that if I receive this scholarship, I am expected to attend education session (3rd Wednesday of January, February, March, April, May, June, August, September, October). Recipient or recipient's agency is responsible for education session fee of $15/per meeting- this includes seminar, lunch and applicable materials. (When education sessions begin again.)
