The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission and the West Virginia Department of Education are seeking presentation proposals for the 2018 Student Success Summit that will be held July 24-25, 2019 at the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place.

The theme of the 2019 Summit is "The future is now:  full STEAM ahead."

Each of the 54, one-hour Summit breakout sessions will be chosen based upon its demonstration of this theme.  Sessions should focus on what actions are being taken and can be replicated to ensure student success at all levels of education and training.   Questions to consider include:  What are some of the practical solutions being used across the state to address our students', communities', institutions', and workforce needs?  How are schools and institutions of higher education implementing promising reform and collaborating within their own institutions, across the pipeline, and with potential employers to provide student support, develop best practices, and meet district, state, and federal mandates?  What does student success look like?  Every breakout session should present an actionable resource that participants can utilize and/or replicate once they return to their respective communities and places of work.

If you are interested in presenting during the Summit, please complete and submit the form that follows no later than Friday, March 1, 2019.  Only those individuals (not associated with for-profit vendors) who submit a proposal will be considered, and it is likely that not all submissions will be selected. Only sessions that highlight effective practices, present actionable resources, and provide an active-learner structure to enable participants to apply concepts to their own practices will be considered.  Collaborative presentations are highly encouraged.  Presentation selection will be announced by mid-March.

CEUs will be offered for licensed practical counselors, RNs, and social workers. In order for a session to count toward Licensed Practical Counselor (LPC) CEUs, at least one of the presenters should have a master’s level or above in a human services field, have expertise in the content area, and the content must be able to connect to the counseling practice.

The two-day Summit will be held July 24-25th at the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place.  Those selected to present will be required to fund their own transportation, lodging, and parking, and are strongly encouraged to attend the entire conference.
