Nominations for the 2019 Excellence Awards

All nominations must be members of SPN. All nominations and supporting materials must be submitted by Thursday, January 31, 2019 in order to be considered for the award. 

Excellence in Clinical Practice
This award recognizes a staff nurse who has made a significant contribution to the care of children and their families, such as the development and implementation of a transition care program for cystic fibrosis patients.

Excellence in Nursing Research Award
This award recognizes a nurse who has made a significant contribution to the well-being and health care of children and their families through active participation in a program of nursing research, such as developing a research study examining the effectiveness of CHG bathing on central line care in acute care patients.

Excellence in Education Award
This award recognizes a nurse who has made a significant contribution to pediatric nursing as an educator, such as the development of a back-to-sleep module for a specific population that provides the opportunity for students to be involved in the development and implementation. Applicants may be in the clinical or academic setting.

Excellence in Advanced Practice
This award recognizes an advanced practice nurse who has made a significant contribution to the care of children and their families, such as the development of an application or tool to monitor pain. An advanced practice nurse includes Clinical Nurse Specialists and Nurse Practitioners.  

Excellence in Clinical Scholarship Award
This award recognizes a hospital, unit, group or agency that has contributed significantly to the well-being and health care of children and their families through the consistent application of scholarship in clinical practice, such as developing a team-based project that can be replicated in other hospitals, units, etc. Examples include bedside change-of-shift report and the establishment of family-centered rounds.
