Class of 2019 PRIDE Awards Nominations

The District 200 Board of Education is seeking nominations from parents, community members and employees for the 2019 PRIDE Awards to be given to outstanding graduating seniors from Woodstock High School and Woodstock North High School. The awards, which are an acronym for Positive Recognition in District 200 Education, recognize outstanding achievements in the seven areas listed below. A full set of awards will be given out at each high school. Committees comprised of Board members, teachers, staff, and administrators will meet in April to select the winners in each category, and the recipients will be announced in early May at the schools’ senior awards programs. 

To nominate a WHS or WNHS senior for one or more of these awards, please complete and submit this form. If you would like to nominate a student from each high school in the same category, please submit one form for WHS and another for WNHS. All submissions must be received on or before Monday, February 25, 2019.  Please note that only one nomination is necessary in order to submit a student’s name for consideration.

* 1. ATHLETICS: 
(Individual awards will be given to one male and one female athlete at each high school)

To be considered for the Athletics Award, a student must have:
  • Participated in at least six athletic seasons during his/her high school career
  • Been recognized for athletic excellence beyond the District 200 level
  • Demonstrated excellence in character as well as athletic ability as evidenced by sportsmanship, leadership and unselfishness

To be considered for the Community Service Award, a student must have:
  • Performed a minimum of 50 hours of community service outside of school without compensation during his/her high school career
  • Demonstrated a commitment to help others
  • Made a significant contribution to the individual(s) and/or organization(s) for whom the service was provided
  • Evidence of hours worked and length of service
For excellence in COMMUNITY SERVICE, I nominate:

To be considered for a Fine Arts Award, a student must have:
  • Successfully completed a minimum of two courses in the arts
  • Demonstrated excellence in the arts based on awards and/or honors received (e.g. music contest results, recognition at art shows or graphics exhibits, etc.)
  • Participated in a minimum of two co-curricular performances or shows at the school or in the community 
  • Made a significant contribution to the arts in the school and in the community

To be considered for the Personal Achievement Award, a student must have:
  • Overcome a significant challenge or adversity in order to obtain his/her diploma
  • Demonstrated character and perseverance in meeting the personal challenge
  • Served as a positive example to his/her peers
  • Exhibited one or more of the additional qualities of self-discipline, diligence, responsibility, and/or unselfishness
For outstanding PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT, I nominate:

To be considered for the Scholarship Award, a student must:
  • Be in the top 5% of the class
  • Have taken a minimum of four Advanced Placement courses
  • Have demonstrated academic excellence through class rank, honors received, participation in academic cocurricular activities, and/or leadership positions
