The Australian Health Promotion Association (AHPA®) aims to support the professional development of our members through: facilitating knowledge exchange; the provision of high quality publications and creating opportunities for networking.

The National Mentoring Program is an important means for AHPA to achieve this aim, and we encourage members to participate as mentees, mentors or both!  Mentees benefit from the guidance and ability to have an independent conversation with someone about their professional development goals. Mentors also mutually benefit from networking with their mentee and developing their coaching skills. Previous participants have described the program as enjoyable, nurturing, positive, mutually beneficial, rewarding and comforting.

The Mentoring Program will also assist those who have achieved registration as a Health Promotion Practitioner under our Health Promotion Practitioner Registration initiative (see https://www.healthpromotion.org.au/our-profession/practitioner-registration). Mentoring is approved as a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activity for maintaining your registration through AHPA®, involving accruing the 75 hours of CPD over three years. Mentees have the opportunity to focus their mentoring discussions around the core competencies outlined in the registration program.

Please complete this application form by Friday 5th of July 2019. It is important that you answer all questions. This will help our committee to match you with a suitable mentor.

The Mentoring Committee will then assess all applications and aim to match mentees and mentors by 31st of July 2019. If we experience any delays, it's because we are trying to find the right mentor/mentee for you! Once matches are made, you'll be provided with resources on how to initiate the Mentoring Program.
