Keep your eyes scanning from your swimmer to nearby swimmers, and to the water ahead of you. Watch and listen for boats and watercrafts. Keep your swimmer within 20 yards of the shore. Eat and hydrate regularly. Do NOT enter dock areas unless specifically instructed. If you see lightning or hear thunder, seek shelter on shore immediately and do not re-enter the water until it is safe to do so.
