A forensic nurse is a registered nurse or an advanced practice nurse who has advanced forensic training and education in caring for patients of all ages that have experienced sexual violence, including sexual assault, domestic violence, strangulation, human trafficking, and pediatric maltreatment.

The combined forensic nurse examiner course will be structured to have the overlapping content first, then adult/adolescent information followed by pediatrics.  If you do not wish to practice as a pediatric forensic nurse, you do not have to attend the last two days of the course.  If you plan on becoming a pediatric SANE and are not already an adult/ adolescent SANE you are required to attend the entire 64- hours course. If you are a Vermont credentialed adolescent/adult SANE and would like to become a pediatric SANE you are required to the last 3 days of the course plus 8 hours of independent study.

The dates are as follows:
November 5,6,7 In various location in Waterbury
November 16 and 17th ( weekend dates) in Montpelier
December 2 and 3rd (Pediatric focuses content) in Waterbury
Simulation Lab TBD
Plus independent study.

"Vermont SANE Program is an Approved Provider of continuing nursing education by the Northeast Multistate Division, an accredited Approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Provider Number: 13-07-002PR; Expiration Date: September 10, 2020. 

o An agenda, final logistics & information about lunch will be provided as we get closer to the dates
o CEUS will be offered
o a light breakfast and lunch will be provided each day. 
o The course will run from 8 am-5:30 pm each day

$100 Vermont RNs - scholarships are available
$300 all other participants
The daily rate is free for Vermont SANEs
MDs, PAs,  law enforcement officers, and social service workers will also find the material of great value.
