WAITLIST

The Michigan Foster, Adoptive and Kinship Parent Collaborative Council and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) are pleased to announce the sixth annual conference for foster, adoptive, and kinship parents.

The conference will feature a keynote presentation by Bryan Post and sessions on topics such as: Triggers Experienced by Children in Transracial Foster and Adoptive Families, Trying Differently Rather Than Harder, Preparing Siblings for New Placements, The Joys of Parenting Teens, and more!

REGISTRATION AND ATTENDANCE: Completing this process allows you to be added to the waitlist for the conference.  If space becomes available, a final registration link will be sent to individuals on the waiting list in the order received.  Each participant must register separately.

Once registered, it is very important that you communicate any changes in your plans to attend by emailing Trina Richardson and Monica Jackson (richardsont12@michigan.gov; jacksonm9@michigan.gov).  Non-attendance without cancelling may hinder others from attending and may affect the Department's ability to offer such resources.  Please note that registrants who are absent from the conference without cancelling their registrations may be impacted when registering for this conference in the future.

CONFERENCE FEES: There is no fee for foster, adoptive, and kinship parents to attend the conference.

MEALS: Lunch and dinner will be provided on Saturday, and breakfast and lunch will be provided on Sunday.

LODGING: Limited lodging will be provided by MDHHS at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa for Saturday night only on a first come, first served basis to parents traveling more than 100 miles one way to attend the conference.  In the final registration, you will be able to indicate whether you are traveling more than 100 miles and will need a hotel room.  Prior to the conference, MDHHS will verify and confirm whether you meet the requirements to have your room covered for 1 night.  For participants requiring overnight accommodations on Friday or Sunday night, rooms have been blocked at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa at a reduced rate at the participants' own expense.

WORKSHOPS: Workshops are scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday. Selection of workshops will not be completed online.  Seating at the workshops will be available on a first come, first served basis.

CHILDCARE: This conference is for parents only and childcare will not be provided. If children accompany you to the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, you must plan for substitute care during the times you are attending the conference.
