Les Dames d'Escoffier Philadelphia Continuing Education Grants are available to Philadelphia area women in the food trades who wish to pursue a continuing education opportunity to acquire additional skills and advance in her field (i.e. pursue a certification, take part in an internship, attend a food or farming related conference) LDEI Philadelphia awards one Continuing Education Grant of $1,000 annually to a single individual to enable travel, registration, accommodations, and/or meals while pursuing the opportunity.  

If attending a conference, it must have sessions that encourage learning; travel to trade shows and other commercial venues will not be funded.  Appropriate conferences include (but are not limited to) those supported by organizations such as:
IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals)
ASFS (Association for the Study of Food and Society)
AFHVS (Agriculture, Food, & Human Values Society)
SNEB (Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior)
AND (Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics)
PASA (Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture)
Future Harvest/CASA (Chesapeake Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture)
NOFA (Northeast Organic Farming Association)

To be eligible for LDEI’s Continuing Education Grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be active in the food industry; applicants must already be committed to the field, as a beginning farmer, food business owner, graduate student, or intern in a food-related field.
- Have a clear notion of why she wishes to pursue the continuing education opportunity and what she wants to learn, including an explanation of how it will benefit her professional goals.
- Submit the completed application form by April 30th.
- Two references must submit recommendation forms. 
- Provide receipts for all moneys spent.
- Provide either a written overview or a verbal presentation of what was learned at the conference/during the experience and how it will be put to use within her professional life.
