Introduction to Survey

The intent of this survey is to gain insight into how IT and security operations consume cyber threat intelligence, the usefulness of intelligence and best practices for utilizing intelligence across respondents’ organizations. Results will be released during a live webcast on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, with SANS senior instructor, Dave Shackleford.

For the purposes of this survey, SANS defines cyber threat intelligence (per the SANS CTI FOR578 course description) as “The collection, classification and exploitation of knowledge about adversaries—collectively known as cyber threat intelligence—[that] gives network defenders information superiority that can be used to reduce the adversary's likelihood of success with each subsequent intrusion attempt.”

At the end of the survey, providing your contact information will automatically enter you into our drawing for a $400 Amazon gift card or a free pass to the SANS CTI Summit in late January. On rare occasions, our SANS Analyst may contact you during the paper development, especially if you leave an interesting comment! Regardless, contact information will not be shared with the survey sponsors. For more information, please read the SANS privacy policy at
