2018 CTP Special Topics Course

FEMA is currently recruiting Cooperating Technical Partner (CTP) participants for the 2018 offerings of the E0241 CTP Special Topics training course at the Emergency Management Institute in Emmitsburg (EMI), MD. Please complete and submit this brief questionnaire which provides demographic information, your expectations and gages your interest in sharing best practices with other CTPs as a presenter on Peer-to-Peer day.  Once the survey is complete, you will receive a pre-approval letter which must accompany application to EMI Admissions.

Course Logistics
The course offers 2 sessions in 2018, a technical session in spring and a communications session in summer. Both sessions include interactive content where participants can engage with subject matter experts, other CTPs, and FEMA staff on select topics and activities. Peer-to-Peer best practice sharing is always a course favorite during both sessions.

Each course begins on Monday and includes 4 full training days. Day 5 is a travel day only. Training days generally begin at 8 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. Training times may vary according to agenda specific content.


Out of class activities are also part of the networking and exchange experience during the week. Activities generally include

·       A class dinner for CTPs (off campus, transportation provided)

·       A student dinner on campus (all courses, all students)

·       Evening activities are available on campus such as bike rentals (dependent upon weather), socializing in the Pub, on campus store and gift shop, gym, and walking areas.

Peer-to-Peer Day Presentations

Each year, course participants share knowledge and best practices with others through a presentation on Peer-to-Peer Day. Participants conduct a 30-45 minute presentation which includes:

a. Self-developed content (PowerPoint, PDF, etc.)

b. Additional materials: handouts, factsheets, technology demonstrations, and links to websites. (Note: all websites must be approved by EMI prior to use during the course. The Booz Allen Program Management Team will work with presenters to obtain approval for link usage.)

c. Interactivity is encouraged
