SDVAA 2018 Basic Academy Student Application Information

Thank you for your interest in attending the 2018 Basic South Dakota Victim Assistance Academy (SDVAA) which will be held in Pierre, SD, June 11-15, 2018.  To ensure a variety of representatives from different areas of the state, all potential students must submit an application in order to be considered.

The Basic SDVAA will provide a 40 hour comprehensive, academic, interdisciplinary and interactive training program for crime victim service providers, advocates, allied professionals and others who work with crime victims. These students will be entry level professionals with 0-5 years of experience in their respective field.  A comprehensive curriculum using adult learning theory will be utilized by instructors.

The mission of SDVAA is to support all allied professionals to enhance the delivery of culturally relevant, quality services to victims of crime in South Dakota through collaboration, coordination and education.

If you are currently studying for a bachelor's or master's level degree, you may be eligible to earn 3 college credits by attending this academy.  Please contact Dr. Courtney Waid-Lindberg at for more information.  Please still complete the student application.
The registration fee is $225 and will cover all course material and some meals. 

Fees are NOT due until notification of acceptance.

The deadline for submitting the completed application is March 9, 2018, and students will be notified regarding selection by April 13, 2018.
