Bread & Roses Community Fund is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2017.

Our theme for the 2017 Tribute to Change is "40 Years of Resistance."

For our 40th anniversary, we will be focusing our Tribute to Change awards on our community of changemakers and resistance fighters, and Bread & Roses Community Fund’s support of resistance movements over the past 40 years.

Will you help us look back into our history to find the changemakers who took on leadership roles but who also spent their time nurturing the development of new resistance fighters and leaders?

Resistance movements in Philadelphia have been built by the people who have taken the time to develop leadership in others – planting seeds for future generations. We want to honor those changemakers who fostered the growth and potential of others and of resistance movements. Who have you witnessed, in your resistance work, take the time to build organizers and activists who have created real change?

Please help us honor people in our communities since 1977 to today who have and are building more unified, committed, clear, effective leaders. We’re looking for change makers, who have not only actively engaged (and continue to engage) in creating real change but have sown or are sowing the seeds for a new forest of change makers and resistance fighters.

Who in your life as an organizer or activist helped develop you into the person you are today? Who made you brave enough to resist oppression for yourself, for your communities, here in Philadelphia? Who did that with you, holding your hand? Or who did you observe doing that for others?
