Student TECH CORPS: Summer 2017 is a youth employment program implemented by TECH CORPS. This 8-week “summer work experience” for TANF-eligible, in-school students, ages 14-18 years old is designed to strengthen students’ web development, project management and professionalism skills and to apply those skills in the authentic task of building a website for a small business, organization or cause. Students work 25 hours a week and earn up to $10.00/hour. Eligible students apply to participate in the program and are assigned to one of the Student WEB CORPS work-sites. Each cohort (up to 25 student-employees) is supported by two Work-site Supervisor-Instructors and a Site Coordinator.

Training: June 5th - 9th and Program: June 12th - August 4th

Hours:
Monday – Friday from 8:30am-1:30pm

Salary:
$20.00/hour at 30 hours/week (25 hours/week + 5 hours/week for additional responsibilities including administrative tasks and team meetings)

Location:
Student WEB CORPS will be implemented in partnership with K-12 school districts and nonprofit partners in Franklin County.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with computer hardware repair, operating systems, software applications, networking, computer peripherals and tech support.
• CompTIA certifications (i.e. IT Fundamentals, A+, etc. preferred but not required.
• Possess basic knowledge and/or have experience leading, coaching, or teaching groups.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Previous experience working with diverse populations and/or urban teenagers a plus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Student TECH CORPS Summer Instructor is primarily responsible for assisting students with the successful completion of the Student TECH CORPS summer work experience. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Provide supervision and support to Student TECH CORPS students using the Student TECH CORPS program materials.
• Support and mentor students as they interact with peers and industry professionals.
• Support student project teams with the successful completion of hands-on lab activities.
• Conduct any and all activities necessary to retain 90% of all assigned students.
• Immediately notify TECH CORPS Supervisor of any and all support services that students may need. Document referrals made.
• Arrive to every workday session promptly and prepared for sessions/instruction.
• Coordinate and implement work in an orderly and professional manner.
• Set-up and clean-up worksite at the beginning and at the end of each workday and confirm that all materials are prepared for sessions.
• Enforce rules and regulations and apply appropriate disciplinary measures as needed.
• Observe necessary precautions to ensure the safety of program participants and maintain a clean, professional looking environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
