Preamble

This is an investigation of the Howard University Interpersonal Violence Prevention Program (IVPP). This study is being conducted by Dr. Tricia Bent-Goodley, Professor of Social Work. You will be asked to complete a questionnaire, the IVPP Campus Climate Check, which requires 10-15 minutes to complete. This questionnaire(s) will be administered online.
The benefit to you for participating in the Campus Climate Check is that you will contribute to our knowledge to inform improved practices, programs, and policies. There are, however, risks with participating in this study. For example, there is a risk that a memory of a previous traumatic event with interpersonal violence could be triggered. In addition, there is the risk that a student could feel uncomfortable with the types of questions being asked. Finally, there could also be a personal time inconvenience with participating in the Campus Climate Check.
The results of this Campus Climate Check will be useful to strengthen our on-campus services, and to inform knowledge development on how to better address interpersonal violence on college campuses. Procedures for maintaining confidentiality are as follows. Please do not place any identifying information on the questionnaire, such as your name or student identification number. All information will be published in aggregate format with no single participant being singled out in data reporting. Dr. Bent-Goodley and her Graduate Assistant will be the only persons with access to the participant-level data. You may withdraw from this study at any time without jeopardizing your student/faculty/staff status or your relationship with Howard University or Howard University Hospital.
You must be 18 years of age or older to participate in this survey. If you are younger than 18, please contact the investigator immediately.
