The 2016 Sonoma County MRC Annual Orientation (required for new volunteers) offers a no-fee comprehensive introduction to the Medical Reserve Corps, local Emergency Preparedness and Response structures, and an update on Communicable Diseases.

After the orientation four trainings will be offered: Hands Only CPR in School Overview, Point Source Investigation of Disease Outbreaks, N-95 Fit Testing, and current Vaccine Administration practices. A box lunch will be provided when you indicate below.

MRC volunteers are encouraged to attend both events.

WHERE: North Coast Builders Exchange Training Center Room, 1030 Apollo Way, Santa Rosa, CA 95407 (in The Lakes Business Park off of Sebastopol Road)

AUDIENCE: New and continuing MRC volunteers, clinicians who want to add to their disaster response skills, and all others interested

CEUs: (2.5) CEU contact hours pending approval for RNs, LVNs, Paramedics, and EMTs

· Understand the concept, core values, roles, and responsibilities of MRC volunteers in disasters.
· Learn about SEMS, NIMS, and the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Plan as they relate to MRC.
· Understand current trends in emerging infectious diseases.
· Understand the Disaster Healthcare Volunteer (DHV) volunteer registration and notification system.
· Learn about Point Source Investigation of disease outbreaks
· Learn hands only CPR and Vaccine Administration
· Understand the role and scenarios in which MRC might be utilized
