Southern Crescent District Cub Leader Training Signup Survey

This a "sign up survey" for Southern Crescent District Cub Leader Training on Saturday, October 15, 2016 (10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., but come early at 9:30 for coffee and Chick fil A biscuits) at the Woodward Academy Middle School Cafeteria. The Cafeteria is behind 3463 Jackson St, College Park, GA 30337, but the entrance to the Cafeteria is "behind" the buildings (the entrance is "in the courtyard").  This is one block north of Virginia Avenue, about 3 or 4 blocks East of Main Street in College Park.

The sessions noted below are a combination of "Cub Scout Leader Position-Specific Training", and instead of segregated sessions (for reasons noted below), this is "Pack Team Training", geared to give your team Den Leaders and Cubmasters and Assistants and Committee Members the knowledge and skills they need to have a fun and meaningful meetings for their Scouts.

We require "advance signup" because we will provide materials for attendees, and we cannot magically produce extra copies for people who "drop in", and the session doesn't work very well if there are just a few people (if we cancel for that, we'll direct you to alternate training sessions).   SO WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL IF WE DON'T HAVE 10 firm signups by the Wednesday before the Class.

More details about the class are in the survey below . . .

Question Title

1. First . . .

Question Title

2. My Cub Scout leadership role is (select all that apply -- for new leaders wondering about the animal names, Tigers are generally 1st Grade, Wolves 2nd Grade, Bears 3rd Grade, and Webelos are 4th and 5th Grade):

Question Title

3. Have you participated in a Scout Leader training course before?

Question Title

4. Note: this "Cub Scout Leader Specific Training" will NOT divide into separate Den Leader, Cubmaster and Committee training classes. The reasons are:
(1) gosh there are a lot of Packs that start out not much bigger than a Den, and so many Pack Meetings/Den Meetings actually include Cub Scouts of multiple ranks (and with limited leadership resources, it is often better to include 2 Tigers with an energized and well led group of 6 to 8 total scouts in another grade, than to have them alone in a less engergized Den);
(2) many of you Den Leaders and Cubmasters actually take on the harder "Pack Support Roles" that are ideally done by Pack Committee Members and Pack helpers, and so you need to know what is involved BOTH to get it done AND to pass the job to a willing Helper when you find one;
(3) if they are going to help Den Leaders -- which is the most important job in Cub Scouting -- Cubmasters and Committee Members need to know what Den Leaders do;
(4) Den Leaders need to know what Cubmasters do and how Pack Meetings run, so that they can work better with Cubmasters and at Pack Meetings.

As a result, the class will run a little longer than a "one level only" class to cover the differences and ways to "incorporate all" in one meeting.

Does that present a concern for you?

Question Title

5. To help us plan, tell us some more information about your Pack, its Scouts, and its Leadership.

First . . . how big is your Pack this spring?

Question Title

6. Also: the Trainers reserve the right to cancel the session on 24 hours notice if fewer than 7 attendees are firmly committed to attend.

The reason for this is that the lessons cannot be effectively learned without having at least a "den size" in the Class -- and attendees will have a more valuable experience in a larger group. You can check in with cubleadertraining@southfultonscouting.com for updates on signups as the date approaches.

Does this create a problem for you?

Question Title

7. Are there others you know of in your Pack who would be interested in attending this Cub Leader Training class?

Question Title

8. Thank you for your responses. Please let us know if you have any other questions or comments about our Training -- like whether you have specific topics, questions or issues you would like to see covered in this class? -- put them below, or email cubleadertraining@southfultonscouting.com with your comments.
